Red Nose Day celebrates its second annual U.S. fundraising drive with big names and big laughs

Childhood poverty is a heartbreaking reality for thousands of children in this country and millions across the globe.
Luckily, Red Nose Day is once again here to help!

For the second year in a row, the entertainment industry has come together to support the nonprofit organization Comic Relief in their quest to end childhood poverty for good.

After last year’s inaugural Red Nose Day in the U.S., many more celebrities have joined the cause, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. (In fact, for every tweet that is sent out using the hashtag #RedNose4Kids, the foundation will donate $10!)

Comic Relief was founded with the belief that the best way to combat such a serious issue as childhood poverty is through the power of laughter.

In the last 25 years, Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion worldwide. According to RedNoseDay.org, this year:

Half of the money distributed by Red Nose Day 2016 will be spent right here in the U.S. The other half will be spent in some of the poorest communities in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. All money raised supports projects that ensure kids are safe, healthy, and educated.

Check out Red Nose Day (USA) on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! And don’t forget to tune in to NBC on Thursday, May 26th at 9/8c to watch the Red Nose Day Special!
